The importance of teams…
Throughout October our Fresh Air Fridays community is talking about “Team” because, as the saying goes: No (wo)man is an island?.
Here are just some of the reasons we cover this topic.
T is for
Tuning in
One of the things we encourage everyone to do is tune in to what’s going on for you so you can respond appropriately to your own needs, your surroundings and the people around you.
Together
We all have people in our lives that help and support us. For me it’s my hairdresser and my cleaner as well as my work colleagues and family. Each one of these people makes a massive difference to my life.
E is for
Expertise
Every person is amazing, but we all have our areas of genius. We tend to love the things we’re good at and be good at the things we love – it’s a virtuous circle. A great team is made up of people who can spend more of their time in their area of genius.
Efficiency
Working in the areas where we have natural talent makes us more effective. Finding others to complement us with their area of genius makes for awesome teams!
A is for
Appreciation
A key theme for us at Fresh Air Fridays is gratitude. It can be easy to take people for granted, especially when they are always there. Showing appreciation for the people around you, those in your team, is a fantastic way to make it even stronger.
Awareness
Bringing your awareness to what is going on for you is crucial in any situation. It helps you to see and hear the people around you, explore how best to communicate and understand what the people around you might need.
M is for
Missing
Who’s missing from your team? Are you doing things that don’t bring you joy? Do you already know who would be the perfect person to do those things or take that responsibility? Tune in, bring your awareness and explore?
Multiply
Aristotle once wrote: “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” and, with the right team this is definitely true. The efforts of the team will yield much greater results than any one person can achieve on their own.
